Fashion aand Clothing of the 20th century

Fashion during the 20th century

Fashion has evolved over the years. Starting from the 1900s, from clothing to hairstyles to new inventions, fashion creates history. The most representative of the 1900s were the amazingly detailed and superbly constructed gowns. These gowns were elongated from the back in the form of a train. The skirt silhouette was tight at the hips and was loose at the bottom.
The 1910s saw a drastic change – the length of the skirt reduced to the ankle, which was a huge step back then.
The silhouettes created by clothing became less bulky and more vivid colors started to be worn. Hairstyles changed to practical bob with small hair accessories rather than long hair.

The 1920s busted in with music and dance that set off the wave of style for the women. Skirts length reduced further, they reached up to the knee and even higher up.
Dresses clinged to the upper body of the women and draped into elegant folds below which led way to glamorous gowns.

1930s was a period of the return of the ladylike appearances. Curves highlights the body with fitted outfits and flirtatious look was totally in.
During the war in the 1940s, uniform became popular. Short skirts padded shoulders and tailored sleeves became popular and most preferable!

1950s women tried to mimic celeb styles. Teenage girls started to look mature and bloat skirts and stitched waistlines were trending.

1960s was the era of the most popularly used popout hats which was worn by majority of people.
However the 1970s was all about comfort and colour.
Bell bottoms, jumpsuits , animal prints were the  fashion symbols. The iconic singer Madonna influenced the fashion as well as the music world in the 1970s and therefore more of sweatshirts, stretched leggings, headbands and bracelets became popular.

The 1990s short skirts and athletic dresses were worn by masses and were comfortable. Finally in the 2000 was an era of combination of styles from 90s and present. New styles in this period was influenced by fashion genres like hip hop and punk rock.
