#MAGGILOVERS - THE REVIVAL OF MAGGI

After the ban of Maggi, which is a product of the NESTLE, the sales of the company’s other products were also being affected. The new chief of Nestle- Suresh Narayana said that it is the top priority to bring the instant noodles brand back into the market.

Digital media is the most preferred form of communication in today’s world.
After what happened to Maggi , the most important step for the brand to take for its revival is to target its key audience again- the children and all bachelors and revive their love and taste buds for Maggi.

The best way to do this was to involve these youth in a creative way.
Thus, what Maggi already has come up with is the most creative and engaging way to revive the noodle and target the emotions of the Maggi lovers.

The video broadcasted short movies of the youth expressing their love for Maggi. The #wemissyoumaggi become a hype amongst the Indians. Social media tools like instagram, facebook and other forums , which are one of the best forms of digital media proved to be a big gateway for Maggi to each its lovers followed by innumerous comments and feedbacks.

I feel that this form of digital advertising could be supplemented by connection to bloggers as they today address and connect to a huge part of the population.
Not only fashion bloggers would also express their love for Maggi but encourage their followers to do the same. Thus all these ad campaigns, videos broadcasted on digital platforms by young adults have been a huge success for Maggi as it provoked a response from the people, “WE MISS MAGGI, DO YOU?”

The second most productive way to revive Maggi is to involve a celebrity into the entire campaign.

A famous celebrity, most preferably the ones who love Maggi could be featured on the television ad and again express his/her desire to bring back the noodle.

This could connect the audience to Maggi in two ways-

1.     Whenever a lifestyle product or anything for instance gets connected to a popular and respectful celebrity it becomes a source of inspiration for the people and they  try to match their interests with the celebs. This is exactly what would happen when the taste and love of a celeb for Maggi is  expressed. Therefore, the people would also like to express the same.
Here, the non-Maggi lovers could also show interest.
2.     The appearance of a celeb somehow diminishes the ‘negative effect’ to some extent that Maggi has been carrying along with it since a few months due to its ban.
3.     Now, the celeb association factor would overpower the fact for some extend that Maggi is a dangerous and illegal product.

And of course, the celeb advertisement would end with celeb reaching out the message #wemissmaggi and cant wait for the noodles to come back or other impactful tagline at the end.
This form of mass communication through television would definitely have a lasting and emotional impact on the audience.

I feel it’s also important to revive the Maggi tagline in a new and fresh way.
Maggi carries a strong tagline today , which has evolved over the years- from 'taste bhi, health bhi' to more focussed on its cooking time of 2 miniutes, and 'Mummy,I'm hungry'

With a revival strategy, the brand should focus on its tagline and make it more focused  like  - friendly /great way to socialize/ brings you close to your friends/loved ones.

Thus in case of Maggi, the promotional mediums of broadcast media and interactive media have and will play an important role in the future as they help to target a mass audience which was very important incase of Maggi as the lovers of Maggi (majorly bachelors) all across India need to be reached.

With the advertisements being covered on television, it has been able to give the advantage of high attention (as the youth is mostly involved in television), high reach, appealing to senses.

Fahion’s new ‘it’ designer- Rahul Mishra

Fahion’s new ‘it’ designer- Rahul Mishra

Rahul Mishra, a physics graduate found his calling at the NID in apparel designing and today stands before us as a flawless indian designer!
Born and brought up in Kanpur, Rahul got scholarship in Milan which was the turning point of his life. After that he kept mesmerizing the audience with his highly renowned craftsmanship which became a signature in his garments. The  intricate, hand woven and embroidered work was present in almost all his garments. He creates slow fashion and provides work to the traditional weavers and craftsmen and enlightens up a way to  direct the work of the native Indian highly skilled craftsmen to the world through his clothes.

There is overflowing simplicity in his work. He colour palette mostly consists of pastel and saturated colours and he uses ethereal whites and off whites in his collection.
His latest collection at the amazon fashion week showcased fusion style as his inspiration came from his wife . He described the modern day women who are always multitasking from work to home. This makes them strong keeping their feminity intact.
The tree of life collection used a lot of floral embroidery along with geometric progressive design. Beautiful hand created motifs gave strength and colour to the soft gauzy and sheer garments.
The best part about Rahul mishras collection is that it is  never intimidating, it never uses extravagant embellishments.
He  uses simplicity with deep embroidery.

There was a lot of juxtapositioning and flow to his style.  He plays around with saturated hues and uses dark colours like blacks, purple as well.
His strength as a designer is how he comes up with something new each time, continuing the garment flow and consistency from his previous collections.
He incorporated new shapes and styles to his outfits, new cuts. His reversible collection in 2006 gave the pleasure of two in one outfit and his collection at the amazon week was wonderful in a way that separates in his collection could be used independently.

He mostly worked on wool and reinvented the thought to use wool  in summer as it also provided a lot of work to the weavers all year round.

Rahul uses a lot of sheer paneling, trench coats, front open zips, capes, simple yet intricate embroidery on chanderi, wool and silk.

In his latest autumn wonder collection for fall winter 2016,the collection comes out to be very serene and classy.
The peplum tops are beautifully complemented with very saturated colour floral work on it. The saturated geometric progressive deigns on whites and off whites look very warm and ethereal. The costumes are asymmetrical and flowy, a part of his signature look. The sheer paneling was done beautifully on trench coats with minimal floral affair.

There are different varieties of front open styles from slits, to diagonal front cut to slight dhoti work.
The sheer had beautiful parrot embroidery on it.

There is consistency in the colour palette and design and the colour grows warmer and darker .
The above ankle pants with flowy coats and cropped tops was one of my favourite ensembles , quite fashionable!

With every collection Rahul Mishra brings in something new with his skirt lengh variations  or colour combinations and from garment cuts or stylized capes.
But what remains consistent, forever enjoyable and timeless in his collection is the handcrafted work , the gauzy and ethereal garments  and unintimidating and simple yet empowering look, the consistent colour palette with different combination hues every collection and variation in cuts and styles. They are always asymmetrical not proportionate. He always plays around with the fusion and clothes combinations. The churidaars are replaced by sheer lacing palazzos or long front with embroidery patches . He plays with collars and neck lines keeping flow consistent or an easy look to his overall costume. Fabrics high quality and the fabrics are the crux with lustrous energy.

His trench coats, and fusion styles create noise about his clothes. Paneling is always seen in his work whether its garments or sheers.
What makes Rahul Mishra iconic is his ability to produce beautiful craftsmen work on his delicate yet empowering fabrics and bringing them out every season with a different sense of style and inspiration to it.
According to me he should play around a bit more with the shoulders of his garments. Although they are prefect and commendable yet, a little tint of newness and fun and exploration with his shoulder work could probably work .I feel he could avoid the use of certain dominant colours like purple which seems dull and inconsistent.

Fashion and Clothing in the Dark Ages

Fashion in the dark Ages

The middle age was the age between the fall of the European empire and the beginning of renaissance.

This period is also known as the dark age because it saw a lot of internal disturbances, invasions, conquests and disruption of economy, trade, architecture accompanied by social health of plague that disturbed the city.

Barbarians and other foreign enemies entered the Roman Empire and left only when it was invaded and at its worst state. In such a stage, it could be imagined that the people would be least concerned about fashion but only searching for means of survival.

Fashion has evolved drastically over the years. What we wear today is in complete contrast to what was worn in the dark ages.

In the early medieval period, fashion did not exist. What was worn by the people was very minimalistic and basic clothing.

Clothing styles did not change quickly as the lower economic strata of the society did not try to emulate the elite class.
The society consisted of nobles, clerics, military professionals, merchants , artisans and peasants.

The peasants and other low income labour wore a simple tunic which was made of cloth and an over tunic in colder weather.

Poverty amongst the lower classes was enough to stop them from imitating their betters (upper class).
Thus the lower class wore very basic affordable fashion which was stitched at home.

When it came to the wealthy people clothing, their costume did not differ drastically from the lower class but they used finer, more expensive fabric to cover themselves and stylized it with embellishments, cuts, and linings.

Their clothing was made up of finer fabric and was more expensive due to difficulty in production and time consumption in their making.

Merchants, artisans wore high quality garments but not as fine as their nobles.

Silk was traded from the east and as worn by the elite.
Stylish appearances were give importance and for which under under tunics of different colours were worn hems, necklines and sleeve edges were decorated with borders which made the garment look interesting.
Cloaks and capes were also worn.
They could be lines or edged with fur for style and status,

Accessories like brooches added a flamboyant touch to their plain cloaks.

Men wore dagging  chaperons and buttoned cotehardies and pointed poulaines. Houppeland with dagged dalmation sleeves was also worn by the men.
Some noble men also wore fur lined tappert over a black cotehardie and a wide brimmed hat.

As for the noble women, cotehardies some with sideless surcoats over them and some with dalmation sleeves were popular. They also like to wear fashionable high wasted gowns with large dalmation sleeves as well as rolled hennins in various styles.

Clothing in the dark ages was used by the nobles and all wealthy people as a symbol of status where as for the lower income people like the peasants it was a mere means of covering their bodies.

Evolution of fashion from 1900s to 2000

Evolution of fashion from 1900s to 2000

Fashion evolved very beautifully starting from the 1900s till the 2000s.
During the 1900s, with the passage of every decade, new styles and concepts were in trend that shaped what we call, the current fashion. Modern fashion trends keep reviving the older fashion from time to time and are inspired by them till date.

Back in the 1900s, gowns were very popular. Fashionable women needed different gowns for their  daily outings with different styles. All gowns reached out till the floor, they  were designed differently for different occasions- some were off shoulders some had balloon sleeves and capes that reached out to the shoulders.
Paul Poiret, came up with some of his revolutionary designs and became the most prominent designers during that time.

the 1910s marked a big change in fashion, , the skirt length rose to the ankle. The silhouetees created by clothing became less bulky and more vivid colours were used.hairstyles also saw a change. They changed to more practical bobs with smaller hair accessories.

Since 1920s nusted in with music and dnace, which set a wave of simplicity in women styling. Most of the dresses worn by the women clinged to the upper portion of their bodies and draped into elegant folds below.
Hip level waist lines became popular and skirts reduced their heights further to slightly above or covering till the knee.

1930, lady like appearance was the highlight.fitted outfits and highlighted curves and flirtatious look dominated the fashion in this decade.

When the world war was struck in the 1940s , due to the war uniform became very popular.
Women generally wore short skirts, padded shoulders and tailored seams.women preferred these clothes as they were busy with their jobs and war duties.

1950s was a decade wherein women mostly tried to copy thecelebrities fashion syles. Teenage girl looked more mature and blat skirts and stiched waistlines were a major comeback.

The pop out hats became very popular in the 1960s all was worn by majority of people.

1970s fashion was more about comfort and the colours.
Bell bottom pants, animal prints and jumpsuits became very popular.

In the 1980s, Madonna influenced the fashion world as well as the music world. People starting wearing stretch pants, sweatshirts, headbands and bracelets and other fashionable items mostly inspired by Madonna.

In the 1990s , atheletuc clothing and shoter skirts became popular along wth brunch and pant suits.
Whereas, the 2000 saw a combination of trends from 90s and were influenced by musoc genres like hip hop, pubk, pop!
Gradual shifts in trend took place decade after decade and introduced us to different styles of clothing.
