FASHION FILM PRODUCTION – FILM CRTIQING

FASHION FILM PRODUCTION – FILM CRTIQING

A normal video when put across in a creative way so that the viewers can perceive what’s happening on the screen in the same light as the director wants the viewer to requires great editing skill. With editing skill, comes the sound, scripting, and production design and photography skills.

The film PRADA starts with the details of the place where the entire movie is shot. This place remains consistent throughout the movie which made it quite non-distractive despite of the various scenarios taking place throughout the video.
There is a focus on both wide angle shots and zoom in shots of the characters which display the emotions and are able to convey the experience of being in that scenario to the viewers without being present there physically. Creation of an environment

The beginning was attention grabbing with a sudden burst of action in a silent lively scenario, which created engagement. There is no character revolution, instead there is a focus on the lifestyle, attitude, story and nature of a particular character which merges well with the environment in the way its been shot, given the extensive editorial skills used. The cuts were precise and there was a smooth movement between shots. The viewers could perceive the story the director was trying to tell creatively. Emotion focused

In the movie, crush, sound played a vital role as the voice over was the only sound playing. Although voice over is generally avoided while composing short films, but in this movie, the voice over and the visuals were in good balance and conveyed a strong engagement story with a lot of focus on emotions. It is not a cliché story, instead it seems like the story really resonates with director and hence the viewers are able to connect to it as well.

Both the above films, are short. The shorter the better.
The first one is more visual and uses the technique of ‘show and not tell’.
The script is crisp short and clear focuses on the subject throughout and is engaging.
It starts off as with a scenario where many people are sitting and focuses on the emotions of the people. Then there is a dramatic/ action entry of the subject. From then on the story focuses on him and the ending is quite satisfying.

use of voice overs throughout
‘The others me’ movie focuses on place, the subject and the emotions in particular.
The tone and environment create mystery and suspicion in the way it’s shot alerting the viewer that there is something dark that will happen soon. Thus creating engagement by evoking feeling of fear, doubt, mystery and excitement.
This movie is deprived of any form of distraction and thus quite appealing and consistent in its tone and manner of shooting. The photography angles are quote clear showing both wide angle and zoomed up shots quite creatively in a flow.

In these short movies , character interaction and focus, consistency, sound , depth are present with an element of surprise which have really made them worthy to watch which is an important element for all short movies.
